and the winner is…

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

There is nothing quite as exhilarating and nerve-wrecking as waiting for that crown to be awarded.
I must admit that while reigning is an honor – I miss that thrill.  As I feel the days slowly drain away from my own reign, I want to congratulate the new Miss America 2012, Laura Kaeppeler!  Don’t miss you chance to be crowned Miss Teen (or Miss, Ms, Mrs) American Spirit 2012 in Orlando this April…it is an experince of a lifetime!

Working for CMN Dollars

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

I am very proud of my mom for her work with Saint Vincent Health System’s Festival of Trees. Not only was I thrilled to be the Snow Princess, but as the director, my mom worked really hard to reach a goal of $100,000 for Children’s Miracle Network. I am happy to say that it looks like they will exceed that goal. This photo is of one of the trees that my mom decorated for the festival. It was a special order for the festive fellow Tony Bruno – our friend and SVHS liaison. I think it is amazing! I am very proud of her!!!

Merry Christmas to All

Sunday, December 25th, 2011

I hope your Christmas is blessed…not with presents, but with joy…as much as I am experiencing by being home with my family and friends.
I love college, but I miss all the great people that I have in my life!
My mom believes that Christmas shouldn’t be the only time you cherish others – that should happen all the time, I agree!
So, my Christmas wish for all of you is that you have as much warmth and joy as I have been blessed with!

The Snow Princess

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

It was true pleasure to reign over the 2011 Festival of Trees as the Snow Princess. I met so many adorable children, and the miracle wishes that some asked for touched my heart. A huge thanks to Bridal Elegance of Erie, PA for their donation of the beautiful gown that I wore!  All the proceeds of the 2011 event went directly to CMN at SVHS…$100,000 for children in Erie!

Five Balls of Life

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

Five Balls Of Life
Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air.

You name them: Work – Family – Health – Friends – Spirit, and you’re keeping all of these in the air.
You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back.
But the other four balls — family, health, friends and spirit are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life. How?

1. Don’t undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special.
2. Don’t set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.
3. Don’t take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless.
4. Don’t let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live ALL the days of your life.
5. Don’t give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
6. Don’t be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is this fragile thread that binds us together.
7. Don’t be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.
8. Don’t shut love out of your life by saying it’s impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly; and the best way to keep love is to give it wings
9. Don’t run through life so fast that you forget not only where you’ve been, but also where you are going.
10. Don’t forget that a person’s greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated.
11. Don’t be afraid to learn. Knowledge is weightless, a treasure you can always carry easily.
12. Don’t use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved.

This was written by the CEO of Coca-Cola Brian G. Dyson.
I found it on a great pageant information site by Rhonda Shappert – The Pageant Expert & Personal Development Coach

The Queen’s New Sisters

Sunday, September 25th, 2011

I would like to introduce myself…

I am an Alpha Delta Pi - ADPi for short.
I am so excited and thrilled to have become a part of the First, Finest and Forever sisterhood of the ADPi’s here at Ashland Universty.

Sorority Rush week was exciting, and sad.   Exciting because I new that I was becoming a part of a life-long bond with women who were like-minded and focused.
Sad because I could onyl become a memebr of one sorority which meant that I had to choose between awesome groups of women.
Ultimately, I made a choice which I felt was best for me and my life-long commitments.  I choose to become an Alpha Delta Pi.

The Queen’s New Digs

Sunday, August 28th, 2011

Dorm Life
Welcome to my freshman year at Ashland University.  I am soo excited to be living in the Andrews Hall with all the great people that are part of the Ashbrook Scholar program.  Since moving in on Friday, the fun hasn’t stopped.  We have already experienced class with Dr. Schramm.  Tested our knowledge in American History with a fun class competition of Jeopardy (I was kick’n in that, lol). Bonded with some rainy softball fun and hung out as we got to know each other.

So, wondering what my dorm looks like?  Well, take a look at the amazing photos.
I am in a double, but I actually do not have a roommate.  So, we had the job of decorating the entire room – and making it digs fit for a queen. I got to take soo much extra stuff and I don’t have to share anything which is probably the best part!  Many spend fun times in my room as a break from theirs.
I have to thank my mom and Dan for all they did, and of course, thank the ASHBROOK CENTER for providing newly renovated spaces to us complete with AIR!!!
Enjoy your photo tour of my room – I love it!
